Eastwood Energy’s predecessor, John Eastwood Associates, founded in 1986, developed 50 MW of renewable energy projects over several years. In July 2002 Michael Bowler joined Mr. Eastwood as a partner in Eastwood Energy Corporation in order to create business opportunities in photovoltaics. In August 2003, Michael Huber joined the company as investor and Director of Mechanical Engineering.

Eastwood Energy developed in late 2003 a 142 kW commercial PV project in Richmond, California. Unimpressed with available flat-roof mounting systems, Eastwood developed its own system. In early 2004 Eastwood decided to manufacture and market an improved version of this system – Sun-Link™. In March 2004, Dean Anderson joined the company as investor and Director of Marketing.
